Haywards Heath meeting 9th December 2010

This was our first meeting in the Dolphin pub, which turned out to be an ideal venue for our fledgling group. We agreed that future meetings should start at 7pm. A larger venue will also be needed for certain events. A small entrance fee will be charged for meetings, rather than annual subscriptions.

We heard brief introductions from two new members who made positive contributions throughout the meeting. A few other new members couldn't make this meeting. It looks like this group will take off in 2011, along with Horsham and Chichester.

Several suggestions were made about the new poster for Haywards Heath Humanists. New posters will be produced for the new years, including special ones for important events, e.g. the CENSUS 2011 campaign.

We decided not to run a stall for now but concentrate on holding interesting meetings that include invited speakers, issues for debate (e.g. euthanasia, "faith" schools), Question Time, etc.

Other suggestions included website links to video content from other websites, e.g. Atheist Experience.

As usual, a range of other topics came up, including: White poppies for Remembrance Day, Are Humanists pacifists. Is the BHA a charity. Answers will be emailed to members.

We ended this satisfying and relaxed meeting by looking forward to a successful New Year.
